GDPR entails the biggest change to the regulatory landscape of data privacy in over 20 years. As one of the biggest buzzwords of 2017 and onward, GDPR has made businesses and governments alike awaken to the fact that privacy should be taken seriously, and that the act of not being compliant in the processing of personal data could lead to serious financial and reputational ramifications.

This webinar is divided into two parts. Part 1 will provide you with some background on privacy law and its related issues, as well as a basic understanding of the GDPR. By the end of the webinar, participants will have acquired a layman’s overview of the regulatory landscape of the GDPR, hereunder an understanding of concepts such as:

  • Personal data
  • Lawful basis
  • Purpose
  • Privacy notices
  • Data processing agreements
  • Privacy by design
  • The rights and freedoms of the data subject
  • The obligations and liabilities of the controller and the processor

Part 1 of this webinar is structured in way that does not require any prior knowledge of European privacy law.

The practical part 2 of this webinar will seek to provide the participants with clear advice on how to become compliant with the GDPR, hereunder guidelines as to some of the steps that you and your company or organisation need to take in order to achieve compliance with the GDPR.

Target group: The purpose of the course is to provide participants with a basic understanding of the GDPR, as well as some pointers as to which steps the participants will need to take in order to achieve compliance with the GDPR.
